Capital Ale House - Project Virginia
Watching the economy deteriorate over the last few months has been grim. Our local economy is in better shape than many other places in the country but that doesn’t make us feel any better when we see the effects it has had on our friends, neighbors and other businesses.
Capital Ale House, like most local companies, has decided to go toe to toe with the economy. But in doing so, we want to go beyond just trying to build sales. Additionally, we want to have a more positive effect our community and state. To do this, we are announcing our Project Virginia, a plan of company goals and commitments to our guests, communities and State.
Part 1: Capital Ale House will make an increased commitment to the State of Virginia by setting a goal, July 2009 through June 2010, to purchase a minimum of $1,500,000 of services by Virginians and products grown, raised, caught, distilled, brewed and fermented in the State of Virginia.
Virginia Beer: We will stock and sell every available micro-brewed beer
produced in the State of Virginia. We will strive to add more Virginia beer related events and greatly expand the upcoming 2nd Annual Virginia Beer Festival later this summer.
Virginia Wine: We will commit a minimum 30% of our wine list to Virginia wines and offer these wines by the glass as house pours.
Virginia Spirits: We have recently changed from the Russian made
Stolichnaya Vodka as our house pour to the Gold Medal winning Cirrus Vodka. Not only is this vodka better, it’s made here in Richmond. We hope more premium spirits made in Virginia will be presented to us in the future.
Virginia Foods: Each of our restaurants will feature a daily 100 Mile Special. The main ingredient in these specials will have been produced, raised or caught by Virginians. We will, whenever possible, choose Virginia products first.
Part 2: Local non-profit and charitable organizations have been negatively affected by the economic downturn. Capital Ale House will help these
organizations with the following programs:
The return of Community Chest Night: Community Chest Night offers to
donate 25% of your food purchases each Thursday Night between the hours of 5pm and 10pm to selected non-profit organizations. Visit our website site at www.capitalalehouse.com for all details.
Beer Corps: We will pay any Capital Ale House employee for up to 4 hours per week up to 10 hours per month for community service or allow them to use community service hours worked to meet their minimum hours for health insurance eligibility.
We look forward to beginning the process of redirecting our purchasing so that we may return as much as possible to the local economy.
Sincerely,
Matthew Simmons
President

Great news for all of you Southsiders! You no longer have to cross the river for a great beer.
We are very excited to announce that we have completed the deal on our third location! The Capital Ale House at Midlothian Village Square is set to open in the spring of 2007. It will be located at 13831 Village Place Drive which is on Midlothian Turnpike two miles east of Route 288 near the Charter Colony Road intersection. If you drive by now you will see the land cleared behind a Wendy’s restaurant.
A few highlights of this restaurant will be lots of patio and sidewalk dining, a mezzanine level that overlooks the bar and indoor and outdoor wood burning fireplaces.
Not only will we offer 75 drafts and over 200 exceptional beers in the bottle, but also the same great food, service and atmosphere you’ve come to expect from the other Capital Ale House locations.
We look forward to putting Midlothian on the map as one of the Top Fifty Places to Have a Beer in America along side our West End and Downtown Ale Houses. Cheers
